On June 9, 2022, John C. Vouvalis, 89, of Youngstown, passed away quietly in the company of his loved ones at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
The late Charles and Anna (Hollis) Vouvalis’ son John was born in Kalymnos, Greece on December 15, 1932.
In 1946, he moved to Tarpon Springs, Florida.
He attended the University of Tampa after completing his high school education at Tarpon Springs High School in 1953.
- John served in the National Guard and the American Army.
- Later on, he joined his partner in owning Olympic Painting and Sheeting.
- John has been a member of Painters Local 476 his entire life.
- He belonged to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church as well.
- John enjoys both his Greek roots and Ohio State football.
In addition, he adored pets, especially his grand puppies, but his family was what he loved the most.
In addition to his wife Barbara (Mays) Vouvalis, who he wed on August 30, 1959, John is also survived by his son Nicholas (Grace Kocsko) Vouvalis of Spring Hill, Florida, two daughters, Aristea Vouvalis and Anna Vouvalis, both of Youngstown, two brothers, Manuel (Beverley) Vouvalis and George Vouvalis, both of Florida, four grandchildren, Anastasia (Dario) Delcik,
John also lost his son Charles Vouvalis, sister Nomiki (Soteri) Kyriakou and brother-in-law Soteri Kyriakou before his parents.
On June 15, 2022, a service will be held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 220 North Walnut Street in Youngstown, Ohio, after a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Belmont Cemetery will host the funeral.
Donations can be donated to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in place of flowers.
